Guest Speaker - Jean Betts
Jean Betts is a textile artist living in Victoria BC and a Victoria Handweavers and Spinners Guild member. We really enjoyed her visit. All her work and energy really inspired us.
She gave us an outline of how she evolved as an textile artist. She talked about her experience in Japan where she explored and learned paper weaving. She also talked about her love for spinning.
Here are some projects she has done, always wanting to explore new techniques.

The background fabric, a colour gamp, in the picture of the pin loom was woven with sewing thread. It actually is very strong and easy to weave, also a great choice of colours. |

The scrappy, boro blanket is a philosophy of all my making - reuse, recycle, reduce and respect - in Japanese, mottainai (waste not, want not).
