INKLE WEAVING

Alison Irwin visited us from Duncan.

Some of us have known her for a very long time.  She is THE expert when it comes to Inkle weaving. She showed us some of her recent works, answered all our questions and did a short demonstration on her inkle loom.

An inkle loom is a type of weaving loom that is used  to create braided straps, tapes, strips and bands. The warp yarns are held in place by fixed heddles on the loom, and the shed is created by manually raising or lowering the warp yarns.

Alison is teaching inkle weaving and has published many articles on the subject such as in Little Looms and Handwoven magazines.

Thanks Alison! After such an interesting presentation, many of us want to learn and buy an inkle loom.
