DCWS Meeting : November 8

HERITAGE FIBRE MILL

A lot of fibre are shipped outside Canada and this is wrong! His message is clear: "Canada needs to produce Canadian fibre for Canadian people."

Terence from Heritage Fibre Mill came to tell us about is business. His mission is to "get Canadian aware of fibres locally grown in Canada".

He estimates that there are a few mills in operation on Vancouver Island and in Alberta. Therefore, our Canadian fibre should not be exported abroad to be processed and imported back into Canada. We should be able to exploit our resources ourselves, whether it is an animal or plant fibre (ex. hemp, flax).

His talk was very interesting and stimulating because he showed us examples of fibres that he has processed by hand.

Thanks for sharing with us and good luck in you endeavour Terence!

ANYONE is welcome to come to our DCWS  meetings - share some Show & Tell, review magazines and/or borrow books from our library, etc. Find out about future planned meetings HERE.
