DCWS Guild members were treated to a presentation by Anne Harmer, an experienced 'mushroom dyer'. We learned that shortly after moving to the Sunshine Coast (about 10 years ago), Anne became interested in what she could do with local mushrooms. She has attended several symposiums with the International Fungi & Fibre Association. In 2016 Anne and her Guild friends hosted the symposium in the West Coast rainforest, bringing an international flair to their home town. Anne has certainly earned her local nickname 'Mushroom Annie'.
She shared stories of foraging for mushrooms in various countries and opened up a whole new world to those of us listening to her presentation.
Several lucky guild members and guests spent the afternoon at a hands on 'shroom' dyeing workshop with Anne. For more information on Anne and her quest for perfect dyeing mushrooms visit her at her blog;
