Bountiful, Blustery, October

The DCWS Guild embraced the beginning of the Fall season with 'gusto'.  We welcomed several new members to our Guild, shared a vibrant show & tell and learned from three excellent presentations.
Our Exhibition 'Fun with Fibre' at the Sidney Museum has been a great success.  Visitors enjoyed a trip into the past with the "Quarter Century Club" display; saw exquisite handspun knitted items; a variety of weaving and delightful felted characters.   'Fun with Fibre' is running until October 31st.... you still have a few days left to drop in and see the exhibition before we take it down.

The first meeting of October included visitors from the Salt Spring Island Guild; a vibrant show & tell and a trip to the Museum to view our exhibition, followed by a group luncheon.

October 11th, Anita Salmon shared what she learned from an Eco Print dyeing course at Maiwa in Vancouver.

October 18th, Jean Betts gave a presentation on her recent trip to Japan and brought along her hand sewn "Hanten" (a Japanese workers jacket).  You can follow Jean on her blog at: http://onesmallstitch.wordpress.com

October 25th, we were delighted to have Catherine Mick, the "Rag Lady" join us with a trunk show of her many creations.

Its been a busy month at the Guild and our imaginations are awash with ideas from these amazing people.  We've hardly had time to notice the "blustery" weather outside.
